The Beauty of the Ordinary

My collection started with an old, damaged license plate which I found beside a road in Corsica, France in 1995. It was the front license plate of a car from Rome, Italy, and had apparently been lost during an accident. I was enchanted by the story this license plate told which made me want to get more license plates from around the world.

Rare international plates

Many license plates around the world show foreign scripts, but some countries issue graphic license plates which stand out. The most extraordinary license plates show seals of countries or states, or characteristic landscapes or animals. After selling most of my international license plates, I only keep the rarest and most extraordinary from around the world. I prefer embossed license plates in excellent condition for private cars.

Standard US plates

Due to the number of fake license plates, I collect license plates with stickers from the US which guarantee the authenticity of a license plate. My collection currently contains 49 embossed license plates with graphic base from 34 different states. The license plates in my collection are the standard plates (not specialty plates) for private cars (not other vehicles) and are embossed (not flat). They are all in very good condition (vg+/ex) and have the original sticker (except for the one from Hawaii) which validated the license plate for circulation (not required for New York and Texas).

Native American plates

My collection also contains 44 license plates of Indian Tribes which are officially recognized by the issuing state. 20 of them were used by tribes with less than 5,000 members. As my other license plates from the US, the license plates of Indian Tribes were issued for private cars, are mostly embossed and in very good condition (vg+/ex) with validation stickers.
